The first thing we must do is realize why we binge. We binge to hide forget and cover up situations. We go into oblivion when we binge and into our own little world. With bingeing we forget that the argument we had recently forget the tasks we have set aside forget worries or dieting does not work. But we must remember this is a temporary fix that can lead to another problem. . . regrets.
Two.
Before you actually binge look at yourself as if you were someone else. Look at the food you have before you. Realize what you are doing. If after much thought you still decide to binge enjoy it. You must take your time and taste what it is you consume. The binge time may be the only time you allow yourself to have food you like. Not only knock it down.
Three.
Now you have all the empty plates containers and wrappers before. It is done. Now you must be unspeakably kind to yourself. Do not beat yourself up about it. Do not let the little voices in your head convince you that you have failed. Block them away. You know that at the moment you were bingeing you did your very best. You are a wonderful person. Give yourself a hug.
Four.
Now comes the realization. You are left with a somewhat happy but empty feeling. Has this episode of bingeing caused a new concern? The problem with not having control of your food intake and your growing body size? Rather than taking the pain away do you now feel desperation that is unbearable? Again do not be angry with yourself.
five.
We all have times when we need to plunge into oblivion to escape life's ups and downs. We must now remember as best we can feel we are left with after a binge. Do we want to feel again the way we felt after the binge was over? We can use binge experience as tools to prevent us from falling prey to this desire in the future.
